New tools for data backup in the cloud of Linxdatacenter

Publication date - 16 June 2021

Customers are now enabled to manage their virtual machines via a single window and set up backup copying scripts for them. The new tool is launched and activated at all sites of Linxdatacenter in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Warsaw, for the cloud customers of Linxdatacenter who use the Veeam + vCloud combination.

“We integrated the backup administration panel directly into the vCloud Director customer portal. This solution allows to simplify considerably the administration of cloud segment of customers’ IT infrastructure. Today backup of IT systems and data is critical for most of our customers. The significance of this task became even more obvious after such serious occurrences as the recent fire at the global data center OVH, when many DC customers discovered that their data was lost without any chance of recovery. Such incidents prove the importance of having most state-of-the-art tools for ensuring business continuity via backup of all data and systems,” comments Maxim Khalkevich, Digital Services and Information Security Team Leader, Linxdatacenter.

A single window for backup administration was implemented in the process of upgrading VMware technologies’ stack, which serves as the management basis of Linxdatacenter’s virtual infrastructure. The project was launched in the early 2021 as a part of the general strategy of continuous development of the Linxdatacenter cloud platform.

The new data protection tool Veeam Backup & Replication is updated to the version 11, while the tenant portal vCloud Director is updated to the version 10.1.

Veeam Backup & Replication is a standard instrument of the vendor for protecting cloud, virtual, physical and SaaS systems. It is the basis of the Veeam platform which offers backup, recovery and replication of critical systems including VMware, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Windows, Linux, NAS and corporate applications.

The tenant portal vCloud Director is used for creation, setup and administration of virtual machines, vApps containers and networks inside them. The portal also allows to set up advanced network options, create and manage catalogues, vApp and VDC templates, work with data centers networks.
